How to Throw a Galentine’s Day Brunch Party

Valentine's Day is more than just a day for couples. Over the years, Galentine's Day has evolved celebrating friendship. Valentine's Day is all about couples; however, Galentine's Day is a celebration of friendship. As a mom, I am always seeking more time with girlfriends, and I couldn't love the idea of a Galentine's Day brunch more - anything that's ladies celebrating ladies.

A Valentine's Day brunch would also be a fun theme, too. I would do that if I included husbands and our boyfriends.I love to set a dreamy tablescape, and this table is one of my all time favorites. We themed the Galentine's Day brunch as 'Love is Love.' To us, 'Love is Love' is the celebration of all people and all things including one another. What better way that to have plates that fit the theme?

Galentine's Day Components

There are a few key components to every party, and I always find them to be these four pieces:

  • Decor

  • Table Setting

  • Food & Drinks

  • Favors

If you break a theme out into pieces, it is much easier to plan, set up and execute. Start with a theme, set the budget and see how that comes to life with each component. Then, create an action plan to bring it to life.I love to celebrate galentine day because it's the epitome of female friendships, which I why I planned a girls brunch.

Decor

We teamed up with Paper Source to design the perfect backdrop using Dandelion Puffs on fuschia paper, a love balloon and white balloons. We used six sheets of the Dandelion Puffs on fuschia paper, which is perfect to double as gift wrap after your party.

To minimize shadows and gaps, we taped the front of the paper. The love balloon anchored the center and was surrounded by a frame of white balloons. The balloon runner was the cherry on top, which we detailed how to make here. We kept all decor in themes of pinks but added pops of gold so it wasn't too child-like.We added confetti hearts to the table to add tiny pops of color.  The confetti was the easiest to create for Galentine's Day by using a heart punch and a combination of pink and red business cards.

Each business card created 6 hearts. We created a combination of 12 pink and red hearts in each section of the table, which counted as in between plates.

For the center of the table, there were approximately 36 hearts. Lastly, we designed two bouquets of roses combining white and blush roses with some budding greenery.

Table Setting

One of my favorite details on a table is a menu. It can be dressed to the theme and lets guests know what to expect. For Galentine's Day, we used our menu template, but we jazzed it up with a golden embossed love stamp at the top, which was created from the love script stamp, gold embossing powder and embossing heat tool.

I also love to have place settings for each person, and I put great thought into who sits near one another. The silver shimmer place cards always print extremely well with an inkjet printer.

To create them, we set our paper size to place card size (3.5” x 5”) and added names in a sans serif font in the bottom right hand corner. Print one as a test to ensure there’s a enough space for the stamp. Then, we used the love stamp, pink embossing powder and the embossing heat tool.

For the plates, we used the Lenox Golden Waterfall plates, which we topped with our inspiration for the event - the Love is Love plates from Williams Sonoma. For glassware, I used my Kate Spade Larabee Dot Champagne glasses for mimosas and stemless wine glasses for water.

I love to use the stemless white wine glasses from Crate & Barrel for water. The glasses are only $2.95, which is a very palatable price point. We used simple white napkins and my favorite Lenox Gold Flatware.

Food & Drinks

Kick it breakfast style with this menu. If I had to redo it, I'd definitely include french toast, but we opted for a paleo menu at the time.I always recommend to check in with your guests on dietary issues before setting the menu. Nothing is worse than planning a menu that someone can't enjoy.

As it turns out, we had a few dairy concerns for Galentine's Day. I planned a fully Paleo menu consisting of paleo muffins, bangin' breakfast potatoes and a veggie egg scramble.

Favors

Galentine's Day Brunch Party favors

No matter what time of day, it's not a party without a favor. Favors are my favorite to say, 'thanks for coming.'I couldn't have been more thrilled to design our 'Love is Love' mini champagne labels from Gardenia Labels - one of my favorite etsy designers. I also baked cookies and picked up little treats, which were in the mini heart foil gift bags from Paper Source.Favors can also double as decor as the table. I decided to set them opposite the glassware to help fill the table and balance the setting. The favors were the hit of the party.
