Declutter the car

Having plenty of room to sprawl out on the drive is key to staying comfortable while you’re on the road.  If you’re running low on trunk space, discover more space saving options like a roof rack.  They will help you to pack in a way that’s safe and leaves you with plenty of room to stretch your legs.

Keep essentials within reach

Make sure you’ve got everything you need within easy reach. This should include music, snacks, drinks, road trip games, wet wipes, medication and your medical notes in case of an emergency. You might even want to pack a small emergency hospital bag which is close to hand if you are approaching your due date.

When it comes to packed away luggage, you’ll also want to make sure things you need for a night stopover are easy to get out. You might not feel like unpacking your whole car as soon as you pull in after a long day.

Schedule Stops

One of the best things about a road trip is usually the spontaneity of the experience. But, when you are pregnant, you  may want to schedule a few bathroom breaks along the way. Schedule stops and book a few nicer places to stay ensuring you can get a good night’s sleep.

It’s also essential to have regular pit stops. Where you can get out of the car and go for a short walk to stretch your legs and keep your blood pumping. This could help to prevent varicose veins as well as helping you stay comfortable.

Dress for Comfort

When you set off on a long car trip, it’s always a good idea to dress for comfort. But, this is even more essential when you are pregnant. Stick to light cotton layers and flat shoes. Avoid anything too tight or constrictive.  If you’re looking for ideas, be sure to check out my pregnancy capsule wardrobe.
