How I’m Successfully Setting 12 Resolutions

For the past couple of years, I have spent time crafting the perfect resolutions for the upcoming year that I am dead set on doing. I, like most people, follow these perfectly crafted resolutions for about two weeks and then completely forget about them. For a multitude of reasons, my resolutions never work out; they’re usually these ideals that are impossible to reach with no actual way to accomplish them. Am I really going to go to the gym 5 days a week? My Google Calendar says absolutely not.

This new year, however, I am taking a new approach to resolutions. Twelve resolutions may make me sound crazy, but I am tackling them in a new way. Instead of forcing myself to suddenly change every aspect of my life, I am focusing on one resolution per month.

Each month, I pick one resolution to focus on and try my hardest to follow it. By picking one aspect of my life to focus on and creating an action plan for each per month, I am choosing to have a reset each month. Hopefully, this will turn each of my resolutions into habits that I will keep with me. After all, they say it takes 30 days to form a new habit.  If I mess up one month and completely fail at my resolution, who cares? I can always come back to it, or I can forget it and focus on a new resolution.  That’s also the nice part about this approach.  I can always bring a ‘February resolution’ back at the end of the year — that is if it’s not a habit already!

In a perfect world, I will enter 2020 with 12 new habits under my belt. In a realistic world, if I even end up implementing 6 resolutions into my life I’ll be extremely proud of myself.  I’ll share my life lately updates with you throughout the year!

I’ve always had a love affair with creation. Since I was a child, I handmade my gifts or combined toys to design something new. Fast forward twenty years, and I’m still making my gifts every holiday and designing new ways to do things.
