5 Things to Consider When Choosing Your Wedding Location

Once you select your wedding location and date, everything starts to fall into place.  However, finding the perfect spot can be a little tricky.  Today, we’re sharing what to consider when you’re beginning your location and venue search.

Season

You have to be planning your wedding according to the weather and the climate. If you will tie the knot in the winter, you might want to escape to somewhere warm.  For a winter wedding, plan to tie the theme to something warm and cozy like fur.  If you are getting married in the summer or the autumn, people are likely to be less mobile, so you might want to stay local and hold your reception at one of the nearby hotels or restaurants.  A wedding in the warmer months also means you can have activities outside, too.

Travel Time

When you have an idea of how many people you would like to invite to your wedding, you can travel times for guests.  Take into account whether or not they will need to stay overnight as that adds to costs. If most of your guests are coming from several hours’ drive away, you’ll want to include a hotel block as well to make accommodations easy for guests.

Flexibility

When choosing the location, you will have to consider the flexibility of the place. For instance, if you plan for an outdoor wedding but the weather is rainy, you’ll need a backup option.  Be sure to have multiple backup plans written into your contract so you’ll have a gorgeous day no matter the weather.

Honeymoon Plans

Honeymoons are breathtaking and relaxing, but they are also expensive.  Keep a tight wedding budget to know how you can spend your funds. You may also want to balance your honeymoon destination with your wedding destination. You don’t necessarily want to travel more than you have to, right after a long wedding reception party. If you are having a Honeymoon in Sri Lanka, you might as well choose a local hotel for your reception and invite your guests to stay with you a couple of days.  It’s also a great opportunity to reconnect with relatives and friends.

Wedding Party Size and Budget

The most important consideration when choosing the location for your wedding; however, is your budget and the size of your guest list. You don’t necessarily need to hire a large hotel venue if you will only have a dozen people coming. Instead, hire a villa and get a wedding planner to decorate it according to your taste. This will give you overnight accommodation and privacy, and save you money at the same time.

One of the most challenging decisions when planning your wedding is choosing the location. You want everyone to have a great time, but don’t want to overspend. At the same time, you have to consider overnight accommodation options and the needs of older or younger guests.  Consider these factors and you’re sure to have a great time!
