Baby Girl Pink & Green Nursery

Baby Girl Pink & Green Nursery

For Emmie's nursery, I wanted something feminine but not overly girly, so I designed a pink & green nursery.  Baby girl nursery ideas are often drowning in pink.  Designing something she could grow into was also important to me, even though we ended up moving so quickly!

Creating Baby Girl Nursery Ideas

I've always loved the inspiration behind nurseries, like these gender-neutral nursery designs.  Pinterest is full of ideas.  In fact, I have an entire board dedicated to it here and you can search all of my interior design ideas here.

We were surprised with baby's gender when I was pregnant, so I initially designed a gender neutral nursery.  I love the idea of green.  When we bought our home and I knew we had a baby girl, Emmie's room was the first I designed, and I absolutely knew I wanted a pink and green nursery.

Designing the Space

I always recommend a few splurge pieces when designing a space - especially nursery decor, which will take a lot of wear and tear!  If you're designing a space in your home, you'd love the Best Valspar White Paint Colors here. When I designed this pink and green nursery, we already had Emmie's furniture, which was neutral.

So, then I started with the wall paint color. We opted for Valspar Northern Hemisphere because it was a rich green, but not too dark.

I should call out though that Emmie's room had a skylight and two great windows, so it was a well lit room. The wainscot really balanced out the space. Without the wainscot, the dark green paint might feel overwhelming.

Once I had the paint color selected, I looked for the perfect rug. The pink rug from Pottery Barn really set the tone for the room. The rest was functional decor to complement the rug and wall color.

Pink and Green Color Palette

When you're getting ready to design a nursery, picking the right colors is the first exciting step. Imagine a nursery filled with soft and gentle colors like blush pink and Northern Hemisphere green, which come from Valspar Paint. I wanted a gender neutral room, which is why I chose a green baby room theme.

The blush pink is like a soft hug, making the room feel cozy and sweet. The Northern Hemisphere green is like a touch of nature, bringing in a feeling of freshness. When you put these colors together, they make the nursery a peaceful and lively place all at once.

You can paint the walls with the gentle blush pink, and then use the vibrant green for little decorations around the room. This mix of colors is great if you want your baby's nursery to be calming and joyful at the same time.

If you want to explore more green paint colors, here is what I'd recommend.

  1. Minty Fresh (Valspar - VC200A): A soft mint green shade, like Valspar's Minty Fresh (VC200A), brings a refreshing and airy feel to the nursery. It pairs well with blush pink and creates a soothing atmosphere.

  2. Sage Serenity (Valspar - VC300B): Valspar's Sage Serenity (VC300B) adds a touch of sophistication to the nursery. Its muted tones harmonize beautifully with blush pink, creating a balanced and calming space.

  3. Pastel Pistachio (Valspar - VC400C): Valspar's Pastel Pistachio (VC400C), a delicate pastel green hue, adds a playful and cheerful vibe to the nursery. It pairs seamlessly with blush pink and creates a light-hearted ambiance.

  4. Eucalyptus Dream (Valspar - VC500D): Valspar's Eucalyptus Dream (VC500D), with its cool undertones, introduces a touch of nature to the nursery. It complements blush pink to create a harmonious and tranquil setting.

  5. Forest Whispers (Valspar - VC600E): A deeper shade of green, like Valspar's Forest Whispers (VC600E), can add depth and contrast to the nursery design. When combined with blush pink, it creates a sophisticated and striking color combination.

  6. Enchanted Forest (Sherwin-Williams - SW 0044): For a lovely green from Sherwin-Williams, consider Enchanted Forest (SW 0044). This deep green shade can bring a sense of mystery and tranquility to the nursery, pairing harmoniously with blush pink to create a captivating ambiance.

With this combined selection of green paint colors from both Valspar Paint and Sherwin-Williams, you'll have a variety of options to create a pink and green nursery that's both visually appealing and soothing for your little one.
