Several months back I hosted my college girlfriends for a ‘Girls’ Night In’ to reconnect and chat in our comfy clothes just like college. I prepped a casual night full of nibbles and sweets with only one requirement for the girls – wear comfiest jammies. Follow my simple steps below to create your own Girls Night In, and enter our GIVEAWAY at the bottom of our post.
1. Plan your theme & color palette
For my version of Girls’ Night In, I knew I wanted a super girly night so I decided on a color palette of pinks, whites and golds.
2. Select food, drinks and sweets
Indulging in good conversations and sweets was certainly the name of the game for this night, and I wanted to keep it local. I worked with Sweet Mandy B’s for the cake, Sugar Fixe for the macaroons and good ‘ol fashioned Dunkin Donuts on our donuts selection.
For other yummy goodies, I had a veggie & dip platter as well as mac ‘n cheese cups and mini hot dogs. They didn’t photograph as well hence no picture.
3. Pick a game, order favors and paper goods
With the goal of the night being to reconnect in the casual manner that was our norm years ago, I wanted to guide the conversation in a way that steered away from our new norm: marriage, babies, jobs. I created my own game cards by following our question card template and using 5×7 paper from Paper Source, which I embossed. Not up for making your own? Enter our giveaway below for a chance to win!
As for favors, I wanted to girls to feel really special, but I also wanted to tie them to a theme. The gift box was themed as ‘The best of Armitage,’ which is one of my favorite streets in Chicago. A mix of personalized items and fun little surprises makes for the best gift boxes. I partnered with Art Effect & David’s Tea for a macaroon mirror and relaxing tea. I also created stationary for the girls and designed custom mini champagne labels with the Label with Love ladies. No matter what you decide, link your favors back to the theme.
4. Grab some paper pretty blooms
Nothing puts the finishing touch on a get together like fresh blooms. For my version of Girls’ Night In, I worked with Flowers by Stem. She’s one of my favorite florists on the Northside of Chicago. If you’re looking for something more simple, white roses or hydrangeas are always a favorite from your local grocer.
